It’s true that the US government flags Kaspersky as a Russian security risk, but that designation has no bearing on Kaspersky’s product line makeover. While it looks totally different, this free antivirus provides the expected powerful protection. Kaspersky has done just that, starting with the all-new Kaspersky Free, reviewed here, and proceeding through Kaspersky Standard, Kaspersky Plus, and Kaspersky Premium. Every now and then, though, a company will blow up the old boxes and come out with a completely redesigned product line. Sure, the designers may be constantly tuning the antivirus engine, but you don’t always see that effort.

In the security business, it’s not uncommon to see a product or even a whole product line that looks the same year after year. Because we have not found any hard evidence of misdeeds on the part of Kaspersky, however, we continue to evaluate and report on the company's products for those who wish to decide for themselves. However, due to the increasing censure and criticism of Kaspersky by US government agencies, foreign agencies, and informed third parties, we no longer recommend no longer recommend Kaspersky products.
